Background: The ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Salim Al Sabah, arrived at Nouakchott Airport on Tuesday (18 September), at the start of his official visit to Mauritania. He was greeted by Mauritania's President, Moktar Ould Daddah.
On the same day, a delegation from the Kuwait Development Fund left Mauritania after a three-day visit. The members of the delegation had held talks with Mauritanian officials about the possibility of providing aid for developing the country's industry and agriculture.
After the Airport ceremony, President Daddah and his guest left in an open car along a route lined with cheering crowds.
On Wednesday (19 September), the Emir visited the country's National Museum and the national fabric factory. He was accompanied by President Daddah. The rest of the day was devoted to a round of cultural visits.
Sheikh Sabah's Mauritanian visit followed a four-day official visit to Morocco, where he was the guest of king Hassan.
