    Mauritanian President Moktar Ould Daddah officially inaugurated the new Central Bank of Mauritania on Sunday (September 16) in a ceremony witnessed by financial officials form throughout Africa and the world.

    The ceremony took place the day after he laid the foundation stone of an explosives factory for the National Industrial and Mining Company at nearby Nouadhibou.

    SYNOPSIS: President Moktar Ould Daddah of Mauritanian arrives at Nouadhibou, near Nouskchott to open an explosives factory of the National Industrial and Mining Company. The factory uses the latest techniques for manufacturing mining explosives which do not contain nitro-glycerine, and are therefore much easier to handle... and to transport. Expected output of the factory during the first year of production will be at least one million tons.

    Although the factory will not be in full production for a month, the foundation stone laid by President Daddah market its official inauguration. And the following day the Mauritanian leader had another important public ceremony...the official opening of the new Central Bank of Mauritania in the capital city of Nouskchott.

    In his opening address, heard by financial officials from all over Africa ad the world, President Daddah said that with the opening of the bank, Mauritania would now achieve economic independence, to match the political independence the country was now enjoying.
