Background: The annual pilgrimage to the grotto of Notre-Dame d'Arigbo brought thousands of Christians from Dahomey, Togo, and Nigeria to Dass-Zoume, Dahomey, recently.

The pilgrimage has been taking place every August or september since the first one was organised by Mgr. Parisot in 1957. Thousands of Christians come to implore the forgiveness of the Holy Virgin.

After the pontifical mass held jointly by the bishops of the six Dahomey dioceses Mgr. Begoet, representative of Archbishop Maury of Rheims, gave communion to the faithful; among them were the government's representative, Minister of Labour and Public Services Mr. Ambroise Agboton, the Prefect of Zou Department, and the Deputy Prefect of Dassa Zoume.
