Background: This official film from North Vietnam shows some of the preparations said to be under way, especially along the country's border with Laos, to repel possible attacks by the South Vietnamese.
Official hand-outs say the people in this film are militia fighters from a small village about 200 kms. (124 miles) south-west of Hanoi. Among their standby exercises is this simulated attack on a South Vietnamese hill position with small arms. mortars, and hand-grenades.
President Thieu of South Vietnam warned the North Vietnamese on March 3 to withdraw their forces from South Vietnam of face the possibility of being invaded. He said "I wish the Communist North Vietnamese would soon awaken to the reality, and not put us in a situation which forces us to attack them in their own territory."
