  • Description

ABOUT 200 WEST GERMANS DEMONSTRATED OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES EMBASSY AT BAD GODESBERG, NEAR BONN, MAY 12. THEY PROTESTED AGAINST THE RESUMPTION OF NUCLEAR TESTS BY THE U.S. IN THE PACIFIC.

SOME OF THE DEMONSTRATORS CARRIED PLACARDS - IN BOTH GERMAN AND ENGLISH - WITH SUCH PHRASES AS "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TEST, MR. KENNEDY". OTHER DEMONSTRATORS STAGED A SIT-DOWN; AND WERE WARNED BY THE POLICE. WHEN THEY REFUSED TO MOVE, MORE POLICE ARRIVED IN A VAN TO REMOVE THEM.

LATER, THE DEMONSTRATORS, BELONGING TO A PACIFIST ORGANISATION, MARCHED TO THE BANK OF THE RIVER RHINE, WHERE ANOTHER ANTI-BOMB RALLY WAS BEING STAGED.
