    All is quiet along the Jordan River as the expiry date - 5 January 1971 - for the present cease-fire approaches.

    At the Allenby Bridge, near Jericho, traffic is flowing smoothly and without tension between the Jordanian and Jornell-occupied sides of the river.

    This film was shot with the 5 February deadline in mind. In the past the Allenby Bridge has been among the first casualties of any outbreak of hostilities.

    SYNOPSIS: The Allenby Bridge, across the Jordan, bear Jericho, is quiet. As February 5, deadline for the cause-fire, approaches life flows smoothly between the east and west banks of the River Jordan. Drivers still have to change number plates as they leave the Israeli-occupied west bank. And Israeli troops check identification papers. But there is no tension.

    Goods and passenger traffic is moving unhindered between the east and west banks of the river. Lorry loads of vegetables and fault from Israel and Mediterranean ports drive to Amman and the cities:043049.MLA and towns of Jordan. The Israelis control the movement of the civilian population backwards and forwards across the river. But there is no overt resentment.

    The Allenby Bridge has , in the past, been a barometer of relation between Arabs and Israelis along the Jordan. It has been one of the first casualties when relation deteriorated and violence broke out.
