  • Description

Seoul nearly ran riot May 23/24 when South Korea's beauty queens - 28 of them on floats - paraded the main streets of the city prior to the final selection of Miss Korea 1959.

Film shows huge crowds surging around the floats preceded by a US Navy band. Enthusiasm rose to such a climax that our cameraman was in constant danger of being trampled under foot. Further shots cover the evening dress and swimsuit parade before the discerning eye of the jury, followed by the selection of the winner at the Seoul Stadium swimming-pool.

South Korea's "Queen of Queens;" 20-year-old Oh Hyun Ju from Seoul, weight 115 lbs, measurements 35-21-36, height 5'4". She was presented with crown and mantle by last year's winner Miss Oh Kum Sun and will represent her country at the Miss Universe contest at Long Beach this July.

Runner-up was 23-year-old Jung Ok I from Kyung Sang Puk Do province. (130lbs; 27-24-36; 5'5".)
