    The new ambassadors from Tanzania and from France presented their credentials to U.S. President Lyndon Johnson at the White House on Wednesday (15 December). As has become customary, Mr. Johnson received the two in the Oval Room.

    Michael Lukumbuzya, the new Tanzanian Ambassador met with the President first. The two men chatted briefly and shook hands. Mr. Lukumbuzya wore the traditional dress of his native land.

    Shortly thereafter, Mr. Johnson received credentials from M. Charles Lucet, the new ambassador of France. M. Lucet and the president chatted for about five minutes, Mr. Johnson told him he looked forward to "working closely with your people".
