    THE TWO DAY EVENT HAS ATTRACTED THE TOP RIDERS FROM EUROPE INCLUDING THE WORLD CHAMPION BENGT ABERG FROM SWEDEN... THE EVENTUAL WINNER.

    OTHER IN THE FIELD INCLUDED THE 1968 WINNER JEF TEEUWISSEN OF BELGIUM AND LAST YEAR'S WINNER ROGER DE COSTER ALSO OF BELGIUM.

    SWEDISH RIDERS DOMINATED THE START OF THE RACE. TORLEIF HANSEN QUICKLY TOOK THE LEAD BUT WAS GRADUALLY PEGGED BACK AND FINISHED OUT OF A PLACE.

    SECOND PLACE WENT TO JOEL ROBERT OF BELGIUM WITH ROCER DE COSTER THIRD.
