Hiroshima's Mayor, Setsuo Yamada, marked the 28th Anniversary of his city's atom-bombing on Monday (August 6) with an attack on France for conducting nuclear tests in the face of widespread world objections.

Calling for an international citizens' movement to promote the speedy destruction of all nuclear weapons, Mr. Yamada denounced nuclear testing as 'a crime against all mankind...and an anachronism." As well as naming France as a current offender, he also accused the United States, the Soviet Union and The People's Republic in China.

And more than 340,000 Japanese are still suffering from lingers illnesses due directly to the atomic bombing.

SYNOPSIS: Doves were released over Hiroshima as relatives of the bomb victims prayed for continued peace. Officials have now added more than two thousand newly-confirmed victim of the atomic-bombing...which has also left a further three-hundred-thousand suffering from lingering radiation diseases.
