The United States Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger, is to make yet another trip?
The United States Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger, is to make yet another trip to countries in the Middle East next month. But at a news conference in Washington on Tuesday (28 January), he ruled out a quick settlement of the area's problems, and said the visit would not lead to another round of "shuttle diplomacy".
He told the newsmen that he though the conflicting Israeli and Egyptian demands for the next stage in the peace settlement could be reconciled, even though the situation in the Middle East was extremely "delicate" and "Very dangerous".
No dates have been set for the trip, but diplomatic sources said Dr. Kissinger was likely to arrive in Israel on February 10, and then move on to visit Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. He is then expected to fly to Argentina for a Latin American tour, during which he will visit Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Venezuela.
