    Aad de Graaf, the former Dutch champion, won the "champion of champions" 1,000 metres sprint event in the international cycling meeting at Herne Hill, South London, today (Friday).

    De Graaf covered the last 200 metres in 14.3 seconds to beat his team-mate Piet van der Touw.

    The Dutchmen teamed for the international tandem contest but were beaten into second place by Britain's Eric Thompson and Geoffe Cooke. The Swiss, Benny and Rudy Herger, were third.

    Tommy Simpson, Britain's top professional and a familiar figure on the continent, won the international professional omnium with 26 points. The best placed overseas rider was Leon Fransen, the Belgian professional.

    The Good Friday Herne Hill meeting is the premier cycle track meeting in the country. This year, traditionally, attracted many of the world's greatest riders. Among those competing today were Kluber, of West Germany; the two Swiss brothers Herger; Schillebeeckx, recent winner of the Antwerp "Medal", fro Belgium; and Fredborg of Denmark.
