    REPRESENTATIVES OF PAKISTAN AND THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC SIGNED A GENERAL AGREEMENT, AIMED AT STRENGTHENING AND DEVELOPING TRADE RELATIONS, AT KARACHI ON SATURDAY.

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED BY MR.LI HAI-YUN, CHINA'S DEPUTY MINISTER FOR FOREIGN TRADE, AND MR.WAHEEDUZZAMAN, PAKISTAN'S MINISTER OF COMMERCE.

    IN A BRIEF JOINT COMMUNIQUE, THEY SAID THAT THE GOODS TO BE EXPORTED FROM CHINA, INCLUDED METALS, STEEL PRODUCTS, COAL, CEMENT, MACHINERY, CHEMICALS, RAW MATERIALS, AND CEREALS.IN RETURN, PAKISTAN WOULD SEND CHINA, JUTE, COTTON, LEATHER, COTTON TEXTILE, SPORTS GOODS, SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND NEWSPRINT.

    THE CHINESE DELEGATION ARRIVED IN PAKISTAN ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 1963, FOR A NINE-DAY VISIT TO THE COUNTRY.THE TRADE AGREEMENTS THE FIRST SIGNED BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.
