    VISNEWS cameras visited the centuries old mint in Munich, Germany, Feb 2, and filmed the manufacture of Gold ducats bearing the crowned head of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Royal family AMOR POPULI PRAESIDIUM REGINAE (The Love of the People is the protection of the Queen.)
    Side by side with gold medals of Hitler, Mussolini, Rommel and the Japanese war criminal Tojo the ducats are being sold over the counters of German banks.

    The numbered ducats are struck in 38 per cent pure gold varying in price between GBP6-7-0 for a coin weighing just over a third of an ounce, and GBP106 for one weighing just under 6 1/4 ounces. There are seven values..3.5.10.20.30.40 and 50 ducats.

    A Royal Mint official said the design of the Queens head by Mr. Thomas Humfrey Paget, was supplied to the Bavarian Mint on the understanding it would be used on a medal, not on a coin, West German banks advertise the ducats as bearing a portrait "approved and made available by Queen Elizabeth II".

    A question is to be asked in Parliament.
