First pictures today of a new small car.... imported from Japan by Dodge. It's called the Dodge Colt.
Newsmen in California get an advance look at the newest of the small cars. Three Colt models will be available: this is the two-door hardtop..... a spring-loader rear door on the station wagon rises out of the way.
And there's a four-door sedan model too. reclining front seats are standard, as are self-adjusting front disc brakes and an overhead cam hemi-engine.
The Dodge import is less than 161 inches long....and can turn on a dime... or a yen...almost.
A multi-purpose lever controls turn signals, windshield wipers and washers. A four speed manual transmission is standard; automatics are also available.
The 97.5 cubic inch engine is rated at one hundred horsepower. The Colt is manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan. It'll go on sale on the West Coast in early January, and later in other parts of the United States.
