Background: Masai herdsmen dragged four American missionaries and two children from the wreckage of a light aircraft only minutes before it exploded in the Ngong Hills, near Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday (31 August).

SYNOPSIS: The plane had taken off from Nairobi's Wilson Airfield in bad weather. There was thick fog over the Ngong Hills as the plane started to climb. Our reporter in Nairobi says its believed the pilot, Mr. D. Breneman of California, was a stranger to the area and was not familiar with the hilly terrain. Mr. Breneman was seriously injured in the crash and is seriously ill in a Nairobi hospital.

The Masai herdsmen heard the plane crash into a hillside. They ran to the scene and dragged all the passengers out in time to save their lives. Several Masai warriors then ran six miles (9.6 kilometres) to Ngong Police Station for help. When help arrived the injured were taken to hospital where at least two of them are in the intensive care unit. All the adults belong to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and were working in Africa.
