Background: A memorial service for the 48 Japanese victims of last Sunday's Paris air crash was held on Friday (8 March) in the Japanese Embassy in Paris.
Relatives and friends prayed before a shrine bedecked with wreaths. Above the shrine photographs of the victims were framed in black ribbon.
The service followed a Buddhist ceremony conducted at the scene of the crash in the Ermenonville Forest near Paris on Wednesday. The bodies lie with the nearly three hundred other victims in a nearby mortuary in Paris.
