  • Description

In France, 350 exhibitors from 20 countries are showing their new motor-cycles, mopeds and bicycles to the public at the 64th International Exhibitions of two-wheeled vehicles. The display, at a Paris exhibition hall, is open until 16 October. It began on 7 October.

SYNOPSIS: With the range running from accessories to extremely powerful super-bikes, the exhibitors have covered 23,000 square meters of the exhibition hall. And there are interpreters, bars and restaurants for visitors.

This new Yamaha tourer, a very advanced motorcycle, even has a socket for an electric razor.

A rival Japanese manufacturer, Suzuki, also produced super-bike, a 1,000 cubic centimetre machine.

Another fast number from Suzuki is this 550 cubic centimetre model. It has four cylinders and flaunts both front and back disc brakes.

From Britain's workers co-operative and main manufacturer, Triumph, comes a Silver Jubilee version of their famous "Bonneville". With Norton, now producing their last few "Commandos", Triumph are the remnants of a once world-dominant industry.

While most Italian makers are keeping their new models secret until November's Milan show, fans have a preview of this Laverda.

BMW, the most historic large motorcycle maker, have two new, and dearer, models this year.

Mass volume seller, Honda, is showing only those models it already has on sale, and is competing with Yamaha and Suzuki for title of top-seller.
