Pirelli workers and mechanics demonstrated in Milan for a new economic policy to protect salaries and working conditions.
Pirelli workers and mechanics demonstrated in Milan for a new economic policy to protect salaries and working conditions. This is an answer to the bosses wanting to pass on to the workers the cost of reform, "restructuration" and monopolisation.
The Pirelli workers were first to begin the fight against the rubber monopoly manoeuvres. Other workers from various Milanese industries also took part.
Students were plenty to demonstrate with the workers, thus demonstrating their solidarity. A delegation of workers from the rubber industry and mechanics was received by the authorities and explained the demonstration. The Syndicates explained in a communique that the workers wanted to protest against redundancies, full time employment and reductions in salaries. They also wanted work contracts to be applied as well as reforms and a new policy to be brought forth, and working hours and voluntary notice to be reduced.
