    THE FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER, IN MICHAEL DEBRE TODAY (MONDAY) MET THE AMBASSADORS OF THE FIVE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE EUROPEAN COMMON MARKET AT THE QUAI D'ORSAY IN PARIS TO EXPLAIN THE FRENCH POSITION IN THE DISAGREEMENT OVER PRESIDENT DE GAULLE'S REPORTED SUGGESTIONS TO BRITAIN ON THE FUTURE OF EUROPE.

    THE FIVE NATIONS WERE REPRESENTED AT THE MEETING BY BARON FRANCESCO MALFATTI OF ITALY, BARON SIGISMUND VON BRAUN OF WEST GERMANY, BARON ADOLPH BENTINCK OF THE NETHERLANDS, M. GEORGES HEISBOURG OF LUXEMBOURG, AND M. ROBERT ROSHSCHILD OF BELGIUM.

    AFTER THE NINETY-MINUTE MEETING A FRENCH OFFICIAL SPOKESMAN SAID THAT M. DEBRE OUTLINED THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT'S ??? ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL FIGURE OF EUROPE AND THAT NONE OF THE AMBASSADORS HAD PUT ANY QUESTIONS TO HIM.

    EARLIER TODAY THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALLY PROTESTED TO BRITAIN OVER THE DISCLOSURE OF PRIVATE TALKS BETWEEN PRESIDENT DE GAULLE AND THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE, MR. CHRISTOPHER SOAMES ON FEBRUARY 4TH. THE PROTEST SAID THAT THE BRITISH ACCOUNT OF THE CONVERSATION DISTORTED THE PRESIDENT'S WORDS.
