    Senator Eugene McCarthy upset Senator Robert Kennedy in the Oregon Democratic Presidential Primary, and perhaps destroyed Kennedy's chances for the nomination, on Tuesday (May 28). Mr. Kennedy, who previously said he had to win the primary, won 39 per cent of the vote to Mr. McCarthy's 44 per cent.

    Former Vice-president Richard Nixon won an overwhelming total of 73 per cent of the vote in the Republican contest. Nixon organizers in Oregon said before the Primary that they would be happy with 55 per cent. California Governor Ronald Reagan, who is considered a strong possibility for the Republican Vice-presidential nomination, was second with 22 per cent.
