Fifteen postulant nuns took the veil at a ceremony in the parish church of Lemfu, Central Congo recently. The occasion was marked by a solemn mass which was celebrated by Monsignor Kimbondo, the postulant's spiritual Superior.
The nuns entered the teaching order of the Sisters of Mary and will, when trained, carry out teaching duties in convent schools throughout Congo Kinshasa.
Their congregation is led by Sister Anne Nsaku, who is the superior general of the congregation. After the mass, at which the nuns received Holy Communion and the priest's blessing there was a celebration.
While drums tapped out a strong dance rhythm Sister Anne Nsaku, accompanied by the provincial Governor, M. Annaclet Kaniki led the congregation in dancing.
