    Thousands of Turkish students staged a silent demonstration in Istanbul Dec 12 protesting against the killing of more than one hundred Moslems during clashes with French security forces during recent rioting in Algeria.

    Carrying banners and Algerian flags, they marched in silence to the Statue of Freedom in Taksim Square, where they laid wreaths in memory of the dead. Then they proceeded to the French Consulate and stood outside for three minutes, demonstrating their solidarity with the Algerian nationalists fight for independence.

    A simultaneous demonstration of 1,500 students was held in Ankara.
