U.S. Senator Edmund Muskie made a strong plea on Friday for including The People's Republic of China in future international discussions or world pollution problems.
Senator Muskie was a leading speaker at a non-governmental 3-day Conference of specialists in environmental problems, which has begun at the United Nations in New York. The 55 participants included U.N. ambassadors and specialists, government officials, business executives and academics.
Senator Muskie was looking ahead in his statement to the Stockholm Conference on World environment problems, which will be held next year. In his view, the most essential addition to that conference is the People's Republic of China.
