Background: President Mathieu Kerekou of the Benin Republic has been in Algiers for a 24-hour visit.

SYNOPSIS: The two leaders discussed the forthcoming summit meeting of non-aligned nations due to take place in Sri Lanka next month. In Algiers last may, the 17-nation co-ordination Bureau of the non-aligned countries movement decided to refer the question of seating to the Sri Lanka meeting. The question was whether seats should be allotted to members of East-West military groupings on an observer or guest basis. The movement is supposed to be restricted to countries that do not belong to any military block.

President Kerekou arrived in Algeria from visits to Rumania and The People's Republic of China.
