  • Description

Dutch children from elementary schools arranged the window dressing of toy and book shops in the two cities during a Book of the Week campaign - to exercise their creative talents away from the lure of the television screen.

Citizens marvelled at the enthusiasm of the children as small hands daintily arranged books for children on space travel, the antics of pet animals in story form, and toys that my find their way into the sack of Father Christmas.

The organizers of Book Week aimed at bringing the children nearer to books and reading them if they had the opportunity of participating in the creative work of displaymanship.

Educators who looked in on the children's work were surprised at their ingenuosity, expression of design, their touch of phantasy and maybe a more natural handiwork than an adult could do.
