Background: India has sent its first Ambassador to the Congo-Brazzaville. On Saturday His Excellency Mr. Venkata Siddathacharry went to the head of state's official residence to present his credentials to President Alphonse Massamba-Debat.
The Indian Ambassador told President Massamba-Debat that his Government was most grateful for the friendly and sympathetic attitude of the Congolese Government which, he said, had helped India maintain its integrity and honour.
Replying the Congolese President said: "In the name of the Congolese people, united within the National Movement of the Revolution, in the name of the Government and personally, I wish to convey out sincerest fraternal wishes of happiness and prosperity to the President, the Government, and the people of India"
The meeting was also attended by the Congo-Brazzaville Foreign Minister, M. Ganao and the press attache of the Indian Embassy, Mr. Sitaraman.
A goodwill mission from India is to visit Congo-Brazzaville soon.
