    TRANSCRIPT: MISS DEVLIN: (SEQ. 3): "Not very long ago, because the numbers in the prison where I was came to 800 because of criminal activities such as disturbing the peace, engaging in political activity, marching in political demonstrations that had been prohibited by the Government, incitement to riot, incitement to think, incitement to organise politically people committed criminal offenses simply because they made a political action and the Government made that action a criminal offence and now we have in Northern Ireland three male prisons. We have still got our female prisoners, there are only ten of them, I used to be one of them and the unfortunate women keep being moved from prison to prison as each one they leave empty has to be taken over, by male prisoners because they keep growing in number. I would for my fellow liberationists in the audience point out that it's not because they refuse to organise, not because they refuse to fight, it's because we are so retarded in that field in Northern Ireland that even the most reactionary judge finds it hard to keep a woman in prison unless she's Bernadette Devlin.
