    BECAUSE OF THE OUTRAGES, PRESIDENT NKRUMAH THIS WEEK CALLED OFF PUBLIC CEREMONIES PREPARED TO COMMEMORATE THE SIXTH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY.

    ESCORTED INTO COURT WITH HANDCUFFS WAS MR. R.B. OTCHERE, AN OPPOSITION MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT. AN ALLEGED STATEMENT BY HIM REFERRED TO ATTEMPTS TO OBTAIN EXPLOSIVES AND TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH THE VISIT OF QUEEN ELIZABETH OF ENGLAND TO GHANA WOULD HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
    THE FIRST OF A SERIES OF BOMB INCIDENTS WAS IN AUGUST LAST YEAR WHEN A BOMB WAS THROWN AT THE PRESIDENT. OTHER BOMB EXPLOSIONS HAVE KILLED 20 PEOPLE AND INJURED SOME 200 OTHERS.
