    THE CAPTURE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF TABORA DURING WORLD WAR ONE WAS COMMEMORATED IN CONGO-KINSHASA LAST WEEK BY TWO SPECIAL MILITARY PARADES. THE TOWN IN WHAT WAS THEN TANGANYIKA WAS TAKEN ON SEPTEMBER 19, 1916, AND ITS CAPTURE RANG THE DEATH KNELL FOR GERMAN EAST AFRICA.

    CONGOLESE TROOPS TOOK PART IN THE BATTLE AND THE PARADES AT CAMP KETELE AND CAMP KOKOLO WERE STAGED TO MARK THEIR VICTORY.

    THE COMMENTARY WITH THIS OFFICIAL FILM SAID THE HISTORIC BATTLE REMAINED A SHINING EXAMPLE FOR THE NEW CONGOLESE ARMY IN ITS TASK OF SAFE-GUARDING THE TERRITORY OF THE CONGO-KINSHASA.

    THE PARADE AT CAMP KOKOLO WAS PRESIDED OVER BY THE ACTING COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE CONGOLESE NATIONAL ARMY, MAJOR-GENERAL MASSIALA.

    GENERAL MASSIALA DECORATED SIX SOLDIERS WOUNDED IN COMBAT, WITH THE MILITARY CROSS.

    THE CEREMONY ENDED WITH A MARCHPAST BY VARIOUS UNITS OF THE ARMY AND THE OFFICER CADETS OF THE CAMP, NAMED AFTER COLONEL KOKOLO, ONE OF THOSE WHO WERE IN THE FOREFRONT OF THE STRUGGLE FOR THE CONGO'S INDEPENDENCE.
