    The people of Cairo yesterday (Thursday) converged in their thousands on the Nasser Mausoleum, to pay tribute to the late President Gamel Abdel Nasser on the second anniversary of his death.

    A special military guard of honour paraded past the Mosque as other members of the Armed Forces laid wreaths. Leading the tribute from the military was General Mohammed Ahmed Sadek, the Deputy Premier and Minister of War. He was accompanied by Production Minister Belim.

    SYNOPSIS: Thursday--September Twenty-eight--was the second anniversary of the death of former President Gamel Abdel Nasser of Egypt. To commemorate the event, special tributes to the late head of state at the Nasser Mausoleum in Cairo. Members of the armed forces were among the first to pay their respects to their former leader.

    Wreaths from all over Egypt were laid at the tomb -- as people from the whole country converged on the capital. The late President is a national hero -- and has been acclaimed as the architect of Egypt's free society, socialism and non-aligned polices."
    Deputy Premier and War Minister Sadek represented the Armed forces--accompanied by Productions Minister Selim. Among the soldiers who paid their respects were many former comrades-at-arms of the late President Nasser, who--with the then other young Officer Sadat--forced the British to Evacuate Egypt in 1956.

    Later in the day, other ceremonies were being held in the Egyptian capital--including a rally to highlight the remembrances of the man who led the Arab progressive movement for nearly two decades, until he died of a heart attack at the age of fifty-two.
