    EUROPEAN CHAMPION, VLADIMIR KLEMENTIEV OF THE SOVIET UNION WON ONE HEAT BEFORE COMING OFF HIS MACHINE IN A NIGHT OF SPILLS BEFORE 75,000 SPECTATORS.

    NORDIC CHAMPION, RORBJORN HARRYSSON OF SWEDEN, BROKE HIS LEG IN A COLLISION WITH POLAND'S EDWARD JANCARZ.

    MAUGER FINISHED THE NIGHT WITH 14 POINTS, BRIGGS AND SWEDEN'S SOREN SJOSTEN, BOTH FINISHED WITH 11 BUT SECOND PLACE WENT TO BRIGGS AFTER A RUN-OFF WITH THE SWEDISH RIDER.
