    PRESIDENT BEN BELLA OF ALGERIA ANNOUNCED LAST NIGHT (THURSDAY) THAT THE BERBER REBELS IN THE KABYLIE MOUNTAINS LED BY COLONEL MOUGAND OU EL-HADJ HAD RALLIED TO HIS GOVERNMENT. THEY HAD PUT ASIDE THEIR DIFFERENCES AND SOME OF THEM WERE ALREADY PREPARING TO LEAVE REMOTE TOWNS AND VILLAGES ON THEIR WAY TO THE FRONTIER TO GIFT ALONG SIDE LOYALIST TROOPS.

    IN A SPECIAL RADIO BROADCAST THE PRESIDENT SAID:"PATRIOTISM REIGNS AGAIN." HE ADDED THAT IN FIVE MONTHS TIME A CONGRESS OF THE RULING F.L.N. PARTY WOULD BE HELD TO DISCUSS PROBLEMS, " IF THEY REALLY EXIST." THE CONVENING OF A CONGRESS WAS ONE OF THE DEMANDS OF THE KABYLIE DISSIDENTS.

    IN THE MOUNTAIN REGION OF KABYLIE REBEL TROOPS WERE WAITING YESTERDAY FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ALGIERS. FILM SHOWS THE REBEL SOLDIERS DEPLOYED IN THE VILLAGE OF AIT ICHEM; THEY ARE EQUIPPED WITH A VARIETY OF LIGHT AUTOMATIC WEAPONS LEFT OVER FROM THE FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE WITH FRANCE.

    IN ALGIERS YESTERDAY A POLITICAL TRACT WAS REPORTED TO BE IN CIRCULATION PROPOSING A GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY. PUBLISHED BY THE FRONT OF SOCIALIST FORCES, IT SUGGESTED THE WITHDRAWAL OF ALGERIAN ARMY UNITS FROM THE KABYLIE MOUNTAINS SO THAT THE REBELS COULD GO TO THE FRONTIER AND FIGHT THE MOROCCANS. IT ALSO DEMAND THE RELEASED OF ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS.
