Mrs. Barbara Powers, wife of the American U 2 pilot who was sentenced in Moscow?
Mrs. Barbara Powers, wife of the American U 2 pilot who was sentenced in Moscow last week to 10 years' detention, arrived at Le Bourget airport, Paris, Aug 26. She came - via Brussels - from Moscow, where she had not been able to see Soviet Premier Khrushchev as she had hoped.
She refused to answer journalists' questions, explaining she was very tired. With her were her mother and two friends. She is staying two days in Paris before returning home.
In America, Mr. Powers senior has told a press conference that his son did not believe he had been shot down, but would not answer further questions about how his son's U 2 flight ended.
