The 25th session of the Liberation Committee of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) opened in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on Monday (9 June). King Hassan presided over the opening ceremony at the Royal Palace of Ryad.
The liberation movements taking part in the meeting are: SDP-Democratic Party of the Seychelles; SWAPO - Organisation of People of South West Africa (Namibia); PAC-Pan African Congress; MPLA - Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola; FNLA-National Front for the Liberation of Angola; MOLINACO - Liberation Movement of the Comores; FLCS - Liberation Front of the Coast of Somalis; M.L.D. - Liberation movement of Djibouti; FRELIMO - Liberation Front of Mozambique; MLSTP - Liberation Movement of Sao Tome and Principe; UNITA - National Union for the Total Independence of Angola; ANC - National African Congress (of South Africa or Azanie) and the other ANC-National African Congress (grouping Zapu and Zanu in Rhodesia).
A delegation from MPAIAC, the liberation movement for The Canary Islands, is the only liberation group not recognised by the OAU which is attending the conference.
