  • Description

Three monkeys joined 500 men as they picketed the City Hall, New York, yesterday in support of a pay review strike by museums and zoo employees. Two elephants were moved on, by request of the police.

The lion's share of New York museums were closed by the one-day token strike. Bronx Zoo was unpopulated as the jungle and the animals there had no visitors to look at. So inhuman was the scene that a wild rabbit frisked unafraid near the seal pool.

Essential crews were provided at all institutions for the day, but the man's union has warned that the strike would be expected unless immediate action on the claims is taken.

The zoo and Museum workers claim that their pay is not classified according to particular skills and they seek "a proper agreement."
