  • Description

Retired Pakistani Air Marshal Asghar Khan, an opposition leader in West Pakistan and major critic of President Bhutto, on Sunday (16 January) criticised the new leadership at an open air public meeting in Karachi.

He said he had decided to fight the People's Party of President Bhutto, and oppose the present regime by all Constitutional and democratic means.

He also asked that the Inquiry Commission appointed by President Bhutto to look into the military defeat in East Pakistan be open to the Press and to the public.

As the Commission began sitting in Rawalpindi on Monday, President Bhutto made a dramatic offer to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh, to renounce his office if this needed to preserve the unity of Pakistan.
