    One of Britain's best known conductors, Sir Adrian Boult, is the central figure in a recently completed film made by a team of the Visnews Special Productions Unit. The film had its premiere in London today with the Queen Mother in attendance. Titled "The Point of the Stick", the film's object is mainly educational. Sir Adrian said his technique results in the baton completing all its movements inside a small area. This enables the musicians to see what he is conveying to them without distracting them from their music.

    SYNOPSIS: The Queen Mother has attended the premiere in London of a film made by a team of the Visnews Special Productions' Unit. Entitled "The Point of the Stick" the film's aim is mainly educational.

    The film centres around one of Britain's best known conductors, Sir Adrian Boult, and his technique with the baton. Sir Adrian believes the best method of conducting an orchestra is to have the baton complete all its movements inside a small area. This enables the musicians to see what he is conveying to them without distracting them from their music. The 27 minute film is one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by Visnews.
