  • Description

More than 2,000 anti-nuclear campaigners - members of the Danish war resisters' movement "Aldrig mere Krig", joined by contingents from Sweden, Norway, Germany, Great Britain, Finland and Iceland - left the small town of Holbaek, Oct 21, on a protest march to Copenhagen.

Carrying banners reading "No to rockets", "Hiroshima - Nagasaki - Copenhagen?" and "1 H-bomb - 1000 Atom bombs", the marchers were hoping to cover the 60 kilometres in two days, reaching Copenhagen's Christiansborg Parliament building on Sunday afternoon, Oct 23.

According to local reports, the demonstrators obtained permission for their march direct from the Minister of Justice, after the Holbaek police authorities raised objections and tried to ban the procession.
