    AT THE START, HUGH ANDERSON OF NEW ZEALAND WAS IN A MINOR CRASH WITH ANOTHER RIDER. FROM THE BEGINNING, GARY HOCKING OF RHODESIA BET A FAST TIME. IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE HE WAS ALREADY FIVE POINTS. AHEAD OF MIKE HAILWOOD. BOTH RIDERS WERE SOON CLEAR OF THE FIELD, AND DETERMINED TO STAY THERE. AFTER TWENTY LAPS GARY HOCKING ON HIS M.V. AGUSTA WAS THE WINNER WITH MIKE HAILWOOD OF BRITAIN SECOND.

    THE RESULT: 1, HOCKING, 90.49 M.P.H.; 2, MIKE HAILWOOD (NORTON) 88.78 M.P.H.; 3, ALASTAIR KING (NORTON) 88.76 M.P.H. IN THE 250 C.C. CLASS, BOB MCINTYRE OF BRITAIN ON A HONDA WAS FIRST IN 95.44 MP.H. SECOND WAS MIKE HAILWOOD (HONDA) 94.98 M.P.H. AND THIRD JIM REDMAN OF SOUTHERN RHODESIA (HONDA) 94.10 M.P.H.

    DURING THE GRAND PRIX A FLAG MARSHAL WAS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ONE OF THE ENTRIES. TWO OTHER PEOPLE WERE SLIGHTLY HURT.
