Before liberation, all the land in this area belonged the feudal overlords.
The peasants were subjected to merciless exploitation and oppression, their life was the last word of poverty while productive power remained extremely low.
After liberation, the Tai people have won complete emancipation and became the master of their won house. Their economic and living conditions took on an altogether new aspect.
In 1958, an agricultural produces' cooperative was organized here. Replying on the collective strength the coop member built irrigation ditches and brought the water of the Jui Li River into the fields. The yield of cereal crops went up year after year and the livelihood of the coop members was greatly improved. The coop raises pigs and ducks - something the Tai people never did before -to develop the collective economy and increase the income of its members.
This Tai girl is the first person in the coop to specialize in pig raising.
For several years, the survival rate of the pigs and ducks under her care has been very high and her ways of keeping the pigs and ducks fat and strong have won the praise from her fellow coop members.
The young people of the Tai's love to dance and sing in their spare hours to express their light over a day's work well done and in praise of their happy life.
