Background: An Australian widow, Mrs. Marion Latham, was allowed into Britain today(Wednesday) after being kept on the liner "Australia" for three days while Immigration officials investigated her case.

Accompanied by her five children, Mrs. Latham had come to Britain with 24-year-old Mr. Ronald Capel to whom she was going to be married. But when the liner docked at Southampton officials said she had the wrong stamp on her passport.

Now the Home Office has allowed Mrs. Latham a three-month stay. And marriage to Mr. Capel will mean she can stay in Britain permanently.

After hearing of the Home Office's decision, Mrs. Latham said "I am so happy, I cannot stop trembling. It has been hell cooped up on board. Ron and I hope to get married as soon as possible."
