THE 127,000 SUPPORTERS OF THE NORTH VIETNAMESE CAUSE CARRIED BANNERS CONDEMNING WHAT THEY CALLED AMERICAN IMPERIALIST AGGRESSION IN VIETNAM,. AND ATTACKING THE AMERICAN-JAPANESE SECURITY TREATY. THE LEADER OF THE JAPANESE COMMUNIST PARTY HAD CALLED THE RALLY TO PROTEST A PLANNED VISIT TO TOKYO BY THE SOUTH VIETNAM PRIME MINISTER, GENERAL KY. THE RESPONSE AS THE BIGGEST SINCE A CROWD OF 138,000 GATHERED IN 1960 TO PROTEST AGAINST THE SIGNING OF THE U.S. - JAPAN TREATY. A RITH-WING GROUP STAGED ANOTHER MEETING NEARBY, AND 3,000 RIOT POLICE MOVED INTO THE AREA IN CASE OF TROUBLE. BUT BOTH MEETINGS ENDED QUIETLY. A GROUP OF NORTH VIETNAMESE MEN AND WOMEN WERE GIVEN A BIG WELCOME AT THE COMMUNIST RALLY, AND LATER MONEY WAS COLLECTED FOR THE NORTH VIETNAME GOVERNMENT.
