  • Description

Europe's international set left Princes Alfonso Hohenlohe's Marbella Club hotel yesterday (Monday) on the start of a motor treasure hunt which will take them to Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Safi, Mogador, Essaouira, Agadir, Taroudant, Tazenakhte, Quarzazate, Marrakech, Fes, and then back to Marbella.

The treasure hunt lasts eight days and has been organised by Prince Alfonso, who recently returned to Spain after an enforced absence of ten months while the custody of his two young sons was settled with his former wife, Prince Ira.

Prince Alfonso describes the treasures hunt as an excursion by car for a group of friends, to show them the charming land of their nieghbours with its beautiful country, excellent roads, and warm hospitality.

The competitors will also be able to sleep in comfortable hotels on the route and enjoy folk festivals which have been organised at each stage.

There will of course be clues to solve on the way, but Prince Alfonso says the competitors will have no difficulty with these. There's one difficulty however -- packing in enough clothes. "We will be needing all the usual things from dinner jackets to bathing suits," said the Prince.

Among these competing in the treasure hunt are Prince and Princess Karl Leiningen (the Princess is the sister of ex-King Simeon of Bulgaria) in a jaguar Mark II; Baroness von Thyssen with Mr. Peppo Vanini of St. Moritz in a B.M.W.; Prince Tasilo Furstenburg in a Fiat; and Mrs Maxine Baird, the former actress, with her son, also driving a Fiat.
