  • Description

ANOTHER ANTI-NUCLEAR DEMONSTRATION - AN ESTIMATED 21,000 PEOPLE MARCHED THROUGH PARIS TODAY (SUNDAY) TO PROTEST AGAINST FRENCH NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

A POLICE HELICOPTER CIRCLED OVERHEAD AS THE DEMONSTRATORS - FROM 40 POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS - STREAMED INTO SCEAUX PARK FOR A RALLY.

CHIEF SPEAKER WAS M. JULES MOCH, THE SOCIALIST DEPUTY AND FORMER CABINET MINISTER. HE TOLD THE CROWD THAT THE FRENCH NUCLEAR FORCE WAS NOT ONLY RUINOUS, BUT INEFFICIENT AND USELESS IN DEFENCE, OR AS A DETERRENT.

MEANWHILE, LEADERS OF THE RULING GAULLIST PARTY WERE TOLD TONIGHT THAT AN ARMY, LIMITED IN NUMBER BUT EQUIPPED WITH ATOMIC BOMB, COST LESS THAN A LARGE CONVENTIONAL ARMY.

(FRANCE HAS ALREADY TESTED SEVERAL NUCLEAR DEVICES IN THE SAHARA, AND IS NOW PUSHING AHEAD WITH PLANS TO CONDUCT SIMILAR TESTS IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC.)
