Background: Arsenal, in an action-packed match, held Stoke scoreless while putting on two spectacular goals in their match at Highbury today (Saturday).

Hero of the day was Ray Kennedy, who scored both of Arsenal's goals, to put them at the top of the First Division table.

First score came up in the 25th minute, following a free kick by Storey. Armstrong sent over to the centre and Kennedy just got a touch with his head to put Arsenal in the lead.

Radford almost made it two goals up when he headed a right cross from Graham into the side netting.

But kennedy made amends following the interval after Smith had fouled Radford. Despite a wall of defenders set up by Stoke, kennedy sent the free-kick straight through into her net. Goalkeeper Farmer had no chance of saving.

Stoke fought back but were unable to match the high-pressure football of the home team.
