    GAILY DECORATED WITH FLOWERS AND BEARING THE NUMBER PLATE 5,000,000, THE CAR IS TO BE PRESENTED TO THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS AT GENEVA. FACTORY DIRECTOR NORDHOFF ADDRESSED THE WORKERS GATHERED TO SEE THE FINISHED CAR.

    VOLKSWAGEN NOW PRODUCES 4,200 VEHICLES DAILY. THE COMPANY LEADS EUROPE IN CAR PRODUCTION. WEST GERMANY WAS THE ONLY COMMON MARKET COUNTRY TO EXPORT MORE MOTOR VEHICLES IN THE FIRST HALF OF THIS YEAR THAN IN THE SAME PERIOD OF 1960. PRODUCTION IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 1961 WAS 8.5 PER CENT HIGHER THAN FOR THE FIRST HALF IN 1960.
