Background: At an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council that began at 4:30 AM New York Time Saturday (10 June), Syria attacked the United States for providing what it called "military and moral support for Israel." The United States denied the charge.

The early morning session of the council attempted to determine the scope of military action by the Israeli's in Syria and to take steps to halt that action.

U.S. Ambassador Arthur Goldberg outlined the United States' role in the negotiations. He then responded to claims by the Syrian Ambassador that the United States had helped Israel in fighting the war. The Syrian ambassador also cited what he called evidence of United States ' emotional involvement with the Israeli cause.

Secretary General U Thant then read a message from the United Nations General who is trying to make cease fire arrangements.
