MARY WRIGHT, A 23-YEAR-OLD RADIOGRAPHER FROM SURREY AND ENGLAND'S NUMBER ONE SEED, SCORED ENGLAND'S ONLY VICTORY WHEN SHE BEAT FORMER CHAMPION EVA KOCZIAN OF HUNGARY 14-21, 21-16, 14-21, 21-15, 21-12. EARLIER MRS. WRIGHT HAD DEFEATED THE REIGNING EUROPEAN CHAMPION, MARIA ALEXANDRU OF RUMANIA, IN THE SEMI-FINALS.

    STANEK COMPLETED A GREAT TITLE DOUBLE WHEN HE AND VLADIMIR MIKO, FORMER EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS, BEAT THE YUGOSLAV PAIR KORPA AND EDVARD VECKO. MIKO ALSO GAINED TWO TITLES. HE AND MARTA LUZOVA (CZECHOSLOVAKIA) SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED THEIR MIXED DOUBLES CROWD BY BEATING ENGLAND'S CHESTER BARNES AND MRS. WRIGHT IN A REPEAT OF THE EUROPEAN FINAL.

    IN THE WOMEN'S DOUBLES FINAL, MISS ALEXANDRU AND ELEONORA MIHALCA (RUMANIA) BEAT MISS KOCZIAN AND ERZSEBET JURIK (HUNGARY).
