Background: All is quite in the Paris Ice Bink as the world's best ice skaters go through their paces in the compulsory figures stage of the World Ice Skating Championships which commenced on February 13th.

With a handfull of spectators watching from side the arena, the skaters go gracefully through the figure-of-eight - a figure that requires considerable skill and concentration.

At the end of the day, American Tim Brown led with 993.5 points to head the title-holder, David Jenkins, who collected 981.9 points. The Britain competitor, Michael Booker, was ninth at the end of the six compulsory figures.
